Green sands of Sairee-Beach

Sairee Beach might be called Koh Tao’s ‘main beach’. It has the most beachfront resorts and bungalows, the biggest shopping area behind the beach and the most entertainment.  Its back-of-beach village is fast turning into a small town, overtaking the original village centre at nearby Mae Haad.

Sairee is part of the island’s biggest, west-facing bay where the main arrival jetties are located.  There are two beaches in this bay, essentially one long stretch of sand cut into two by a small rocky patch.  Southern Mae Haad has 850 metres of sand, while northern Sairee enjoys 1,500 metres of it.  Sairee’s accommodations, like the village, are all at the northern end of the beach.  It’s less than two kilometres to walk from the ferry ports to Sairee’s village – a pleasant walk if you aren’t carrying luggage.
